Operations / Financial Management
The first part of this session will focus on managing the operations of a medical practice, both from a day to day and long range perspective. It will cover topics and areas that a medical practice manager face on a regular basis. This includes, but is not limited to, topics such as developing a business plan, staffing, facilities maintenance, information technology implementation and management, purchasing, process improvement, marketing / communication, physician productivity benchmarking, and strategic planning.
The second part of the session will cover financial management and will provide a broad overview of key function such as budgeting, revenue cycle management, accounts payable, payroll, cash flow management, auditing, and financial performance tracking and reporting.
Human Resources / Compliance
The first part of this session will cover human resources management and will address topics such as creating job classifications and descriptions, developing staffing plans, recruitment, employee discipline, termination, understanding employment law, staff retention, training and development of staff, developing and implementing compensation and benefit plans, and staff performance evaluation.
The second part of the session will provide an understanding of both federal and state programs, laws, and regulations, and provide guidance on to develop and maintain policies and procedures to prevent or minimize the impact of adverse events.
Revenue Cycle Management
This session will take a deeper dive into the process of revenue cycle management, which is essential to any medical practice’s financial success. Starting with the basic concepts of provider credentialing and an overview of coding and filing a claim, the session will then take a more in-depth look at patient registration, insurance verification, charge capture and charge entry, billing and claims production, payment and remittance processing, accounts receivable follow-up, denials management, patient collections, and reporting and metrics benchmarking.
Leadership Panel Discussion
This session will consist of a panel discussion of experienced practice management managers in which they will share their thoughts on leadership and they strategies they use to successfully run their practices.
